BIO

   Born in Pamplona, he began flute studies with Begoña Agirre in the "Conservatorio Superior de Música Pablo Sarasate" of Pamplona, where he finished his flute career with an honours first prize, and an Advanced Diploma in chamber music with a special prize.

   He later continued his studies in the "École Nationale de Musique" of Les Landes (France) with Hervé Hotier, and at the "École Nationale de Musique Émile Clerisse" of Evreux (France), with Georges Alirol, where he was unanimously awarded a Gold Medal in both centres.

   He has undertaken further studies with distinguished soloists such as María Antonia Rodriguez (RTVE Orchestra, Madrid) and with Magdalena Martínez (Barcelona Orchestra). He took part in special courses with Jean Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion, Philippe Pierlot, Pierre Yves Artaud, Alexander Korneyev, Willy Freivogel, Luc Urbain, Aurèle Nicolet, Patrick Gallois, Sophie Cherrier, Philippe Bernold and Maxence Larrieu.

   He has given numerous concerts as soloist with orchestras such as the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra, the Orquesta Ciudad de Málaga, the ‘Swinging Strings’ de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, Sinfonietta Academica, Amalur, Paulino Otamendi Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Sinkro, Banda de Música La Pamplonesa...and chamber music groups in Spain, Canada, Australia, France, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, Marocco, Italy and South Africa, playing in the Centro Cultural Conde Duque of Madrid, 7th International Festival of Electroacustic Music "Punto de Encuentro", Ist International Music Festival of the Vasco-Navarros Composers Association, 5th Symposium of Electroacustic Music of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Quincena Musical of San Sebastián, Cultur, Colegio de España in Paris, Juan March Foundation of Madrid, Altadis Fundation, Matinées de Miramón, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, L'Auditori in Barcelona, Semana de Música Turolense, Cycle of Contemporary Music of Pamplona, Injuve, Summer Imago Sloveniae, Summer in Ljubljana Old Town, Chopin Center in Szafarnia, Teatro Cervantes of Málaga, Teatro Gayarre of Pamplona, Teatro Rosalía de Castro of La Coruña, Teatro Victoria Eugenia of San Sebastián, Auditorium Baluarte of Pamplona, Auditorio Kursaal of San Sebastián, Festival of Segovia, Juan de Borbón Fundation, University of Granada, University of Johannesburg, Instituto Cervantes, Festival Sinkro, Cycle Carmelo Bernaola, Auditorio 400 of Reina Sofía Museum-CDMC, etc. He is solo flute of Ensemble Sinkro.  

   He has performed with conductors such as Caroline Collier, Jesús María Echeverría, José Luis Lemes, Koldo Pastor, Josep Vicent Egea, Pablo Anglés, etc.

    He has also recorded for CRS Musical, TVE, RNE, Tele 5 and Canal Sur, Catalunya Radio, Arts records, Espacio Sinkro Records, Arion, Slovenian National Radio, Canal 6 and Canal 4 Navarra.

   Among his most important awards, the following deserve special mention: First Prize in the "Concurso Nacional de Flauta Manuel Garijo" (1993), a Finalist of the "Concurso Nacional de Flauta Donostia 1995", Second Prize in the "Concurso de Música de Cámara Fernanado Remacha" (1995), First Prize (unanimous) in the "Concurso Internacional de Flauta Buffet-Crampon" (1996), First Prize in the "Concorso Internazionale di Esecuzione Strumentale Rovere d'Oro" of Italy (1998), Third position in the Wind speciality (1998) and an Honours Diploma in the First Classified in the "Torneo Internazionale di Musica (T.I.M.)" of Italy (1998 and 1999), First Prize in the "Concours National du Jeune Flutiste" of France (1999), First Prize in the "Concurso de Música de Cámara de la UPNA" (2000), Second Place in the "Concurso Andaluz de Jóvenes Intérpretes" (2000), Special Jury Prize in the "Concurso Internacional de Flauta Donostia 2000", First Prize in the "Certamen d'intèrprets de flauta Ciutat de Benicarló" (2000), First Prize in the "Grand Prix de Flûte Gaston Crunelle" of Paris (2001), Second Prize in the "Concurso de Música de Cámara de la UPNA" (2001), First Prize in the "Encuentros 2001 del Gobierno de Navarra" and Special Mention in the "Primer Palau de Barcelona" (2001).

   Composers such as Koldo Pastor, Carlos Etxeberria, Martín Zalba, David Johnstone, Enrique Vázquez, Josep Vicent Egea, José Antonio San Miguel, José Antonio Barros, Jesús Garísoain, Ignacio Monterrubio, David Cantalejo, Alfonso García de la Torre…have dedicated  works to him, and who has then given their world premieres.

   In the course 2000-2001, he finished his doctorate studies to earn the title of Doctor by the Navarre Public University, and he has published several investigations on the flute.

   He is currently flute professor in the “Conservatorio Superior de Música of Navarra“ (Spain). Many of his pupils have won several prizes in National and International Flute Competitions.
